,Thank you for visiting our website and taking the time to learn more about our chapter and the impactful work of our national organization.

The Links, Incorporated is an international, not-for-profit organization founded in 1946. With a membership of more than 15,000 accomplished, professional women of color, we are organized into 288 chapters across 41 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, and the United Kingdom. We are proud to be one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations committed to enriching, sustaining, and ensuring the cultural and economic vitality of African Americans and individuals of African descent.

Since our chapter’s founding in 1983, the James River Valley Links have been dedicated to strengthening and serving communities throughout the greater Richmond area. For more than 42 years, we have led and supported programs in K–12 and higher education, health care, voter education, elder well-being, youth development in the arts, and advocacy for victims of abuse. Today, our integrated program focus includes STEM, the arts, and health and human services.

Among our signature initiatives are:

  • The region’s first Links–NSBE Jr. chapter
  • The first Jamaican NSBE Jr. chapter
  • A scholarship endowment at Virginia Union University
  • Voter education workshops and registration drives
  • Health advocac webinars and seminars
  • Creative arts programs and concerts
  • Financial support for students with artistic talent

In March 2023, we proudly celebrated our 40th anniversary with a signature event, Off the Wall and Onto the Stage: Dancing the Art of Jonathan Green, presented by the Columbia City Ballet at the iconic Carpenter Theatre at Dominion Energy Center. The evening also featured acclaimed vocalist Desireé Roots and the historic First African Baptist Church Gospel Choir, with nearly 1,200 guests in attendance.

We are sincerely grateful for your interest and support. As we continue our mission to uplift and transform lives, we invite you to join us as a partner in service.

Yours in Friendship and Service,

Michelle Dixon Jones .
